Wrinkles Acne

is anyone else out there in their early thirties trying to battle acne and prevent wrinkles?
i use products for acne prone skin, but i want to use something that will help with texture, discoloration and possible fine lines. know of anything?
Retin-A.

Prescription-only cream, gel, or liquid (but I suggest the cream). It’s primarily prescribed for acne, but it also works on wrinkles (see especially ‘Retin-A Micro’) — when it first came out in the 80s, it was big on the black market as a wrinkle treatment (but is now routinely prescribed for wrinkles). It also usually leaves your skin with a nice texture; just beware overusing it and ending up with slightly flaky skin. It works well on acne, and the consensus among doctors I’ve talked to seems to be that, wrinkle-wise, I’m “lucky” to have been using it for as long as I have.
Find a good sunscreen, though — it makes your skin more sun-sensitive.
Also try alpha-hydroxy acids, and salicylic acid. Hydroquinone creams will help with discolouration. Ask a good pharmacist for suggestions for products with those ingredients — ‘NeoStrata’ makes good stuff if you can find it.

Tazorac cream, or Zorac as it is known in many parts of the world is a prescription strength vitamin A cream widely used by doctors and dermatologists for the treatment of acne. Tazorac is a retinoid and a prodrug; a drug that is inactive until applied but which then becomes active when spread onto the skin.
Tazorac was initially developed to help patients with acne and is clinically proven to do so. However, many patients began to notice that Tazorac also improved their general skin tone and eliminated fine lines and wrinkles. Tazorac works by thickening the facial skin which helps to eliminate fine lines caused by thinning skin.
As a consequence many dermatologists began to prescribe Tazorac for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles in patients that did not suffer from acne. In general dermatologists report that botox works better for deep expression wrinkles, but that Tazorac is highly effective for the treatment of fine lines, sun discolouration and early wrinkles. In fact, most dermatologists who use botox on their patients also prescribe a retinoid to help with the general condition of their skin.
Tazorac is used very sparingly with the patient applying a small pea sized amount of cream daily following moisturiser. Patients often report reddening and slight peeling of the skin in the first weeks of treatment. However, this normally settles down after the skin has adjusted to the new regime. The patient then typically starts to notice an evening of skin tone and an improvement in fine lines and wrinkles.
One important thing to note with the use of Tazorac for wrinkles is that it should not be used by pregnant women, women attempting to become pregnant or women who are at risk of pregnancy. Anyone using Tazorac should use appropriate birth control methods. This is because large doses of vitamin A can be harmful to the unborn baby.
Tazorac for wrinkles is not available over the counter at pharmacies and patients interested in using this product for wrinkle treatment should seek the advice of a dermatologist to see whether it is the most appropriate treatment for their skin type.
